The Foundational Hadith Collections of the Zaydis until the 5th Century A.H
Al-Sayyid al-ʿAllāmah al-ʿIzī records the most important Hadith works in the school of the Ahl al-Bayt (a.s) up to the end of the fifth century. These collections form the pillars of jurisprudence, creed, and the preservation of Prophetic traditions in the Zaydi and Shiʿi tradition.
1️⃣ Musnad al-Imām Zayd b. ʿAlī (d. 122 A.H) – The earliest Hadith work containing jurisprudential rulings, in two parts (Hadith & Fiqh).
2️⃣ Musnad al-Imām ʿAlī b. Mūsā al-Riḍā (a.s) (d. 203 A.H).
3️⃣ Works of Ibn ʿUqdah (d. 233 A.H) – A master Hadith scholar who narrated 300,000 Hadith; compiled Hadith al-Ghadīr with over 100 chains, and works on Hadith al-Ṭayr, Hadith al-Shūrā, Hadith al-Kūfah, and more.
4️⃣ Amālī of Imām Aḥmad b. ʿĪsā b. Zayd (d. 247 A.H).
5️⃣ Narrations of Imām al-Qāsim b. Ibrāhīm (d. 246 A.H) – Works include Farāʾiḍ al-Sunan, Kitāb al-Manāsik, Ṣalāt al-Yawm wa al-Layla, and creedal writings.
6️⃣ Amālī & Tafsīr of al-Ḥibrī (d. 286 A.H).
7️⃣ Kitāb al-Dhikr by al-Ḥāfiẓ Muḥammad b. Manṣūr al-Murādī (d. 290 A.H).
8️⃣ Narrations of Imām al-Hādī ilal-Ḥaqq Yaḥyā b. al-Ḥusayn (d. 298 A.H) – in al-Aḥkām, al-Muntakhab, al-Funūn, and al-Majmūʿah al-Fākhirah.
9️⃣ Amālī of Imām al-Nāṣir al-Uṭrūsh (d. 304 A.H) – narrations on the virtues of Ahl al-Bayt, esp. in al-Bisāṭ.

1️⃣8️⃣ al-Jāmiʿ al-Kāfī (6 vols.) – by al-ʿAlawī (d. 445 A.H), compiling sayings of Imām al-Qāsim b. Ibrāhīm, Imām Aḥmad b. ʿĪsā, Imām al-Ḥasan b. Yaḥyā, and al-Murādī.
1️⃣9️⃣ Amālī of Imām al-Murshid-billāh (d. 479 A.H) – divided into al-Amālī al-Khamīsiyyah (Thursdays) and al-Amālī al-Ithnaynīyyah (Mondays).
2️⃣0️⃣ Sharḥ al-Aḥkām by ʿAlī b. Bilāl (d. late 5th century A.H).
✅ By the end of the 5th century, this tradition had grown into a vast ocean of Hadith, jurisprudence, and creed — faithfully preserved through the Imams of the Ahl al-Bayt (a.s) and their devoted scholars.
