The misguided imam! Yahyā ibn Zayd ibn ʿAlī (God forbid)

The Revolutionary Imam” Yahyā ibn Zayd ibn ʿAlī ibn al-Ḥusayn ibn ʿAlī ibn Abī Ṭālib (peace be upon him), who died in 125 AH, is regarded as misguided according to a number of Imāmī scholars. Likewise (they say of) the “Imam al-Nafs al-Raḍiyya,” Ibrāhīm ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn al-Ḥasan ibn al-Ḥasan ibn ʿAlī ibn Abī Ṭālib, who called (to revolt) in Basra in the year 145 AH. This is an intellectual illumination directing you to read other issues through which you will come to know where the People of the House (peace be upon them) truly stand, and the nature of rejecting the imams of the Prophet’s progeny and their revolts. Thus, this post is intellectual, not inciting, and is directed primarily at researchers.

Shaykh al-Ṭurayḥī said:

“As for others [meaning Zayd ibn ʿAlī] among the People of the House who rose with the sword, such as Yahyā ibn Zayd and Muḥammad and Ibrāhīm, the apparent state of their affair is opposition to the Imams. And whatever grief and weeping issued from them does not indicate their righteousness, since it is possible that it was compassion for them due to their misguidance, or sorrow over the violation of the sanctity of the People of the House.”

And in the indexes of Riyāḍ al-Ṣāliḥīn:

“Yahyā ibn Zayd the martyr behaved improperly toward the two Imams, al-Bāqir and al-Ṣādiq.”
