His Call & Death

Imam Idrīs ibn Idrīs ibn ʿAbdullāh (peace be upon them) made the call to God after his father, continuing the rising of the Idrīsid line in the Maghrib. He died in the year 218 AH.

The Legacy of the Idrīsid Line

Imam Idrīs ibn ʿAbdullāh left descendants in the Maghrib, as did many of the offspring of his brothers — the Imams — in the regions of the Tihāma lowlands. The lineage of the Prophet’s family thus took root across both east and west.

The First of the Ashraf to Rule Mecca

The first to rule and honour Mecca from among the sons of Imam Mūsā ibn ʿAbdullāh was the Sharīf Jaʿfar ibn Muḥammad ibn al-Ḥasan ibn Muḥammad al-Thāʾir. His full lineage ascending to the Prophet is as follows:

01 Jaʿfar ibn Muḥammad ibn al-Ḥasan ibn Muḥammad al-Thāʾir First Sharīf to rule Mecca
02 Mūsā al-Thānī ibn Imam ʿAbdullāh ibn Mūsā al-Jawn

05 Al-Ḥasan ibn ʿAlī ibn Abī Ṭālib al-Ḥasan al-Sibt, grandson of the Prophet ﷺ
The Perpetual Custody of the Noble Sanctuary

Thereafter the hands of the Ashraf (nobles) from among the descendants of the two grandsons — al-Ḥasan and al-Ḥusayn (peace be upon them) — held sway over the noble Sanctuary in succession, generation after generation.
