Abdul Jalil Qizwini and Zaydiyyah

Abdul Jalil Qizwini was one of the great Imami-Twelver scholar of the 5th century of Hijrah from the Great City of Rey (modern day Tehran) according to Twelver sources.

In the Persian translation of his famous work Naqd Fi Mathalib Al-Nawasib he mentioned about Zaydis as follows:

“The Zaydis … have renowned schools in the city of Ray, and many jurists follow this school. In regions throughout the world such as the mountains of Gilan and Daylam, Yemen, Ta’if, Kufa, and Mecca, this school is well known. In Ray, many sayyids—among the naqibs and leading notables—follow this school and are well regarded … such as Sayyid Imam Abu al-Fath … and most of the people of Kufa follow this school … and the amir of Mecca follows this school as well.”

During the time of Abbasids, Rey in Persia became a centre of refuge for the Ahl Al-Bayt escaping persecution and the Saddat community usually is headed by a Naqib or Rais who looked after their welfare and it is well known they belong to the School of Ahl Al-Bayt ie Zaydiyyah.

For a 5th century scholar belonging to our opponent sect ie Imami-Twelver to make such a remark is certainly a significant one.
