Time frames for the obligatory prayers. Here they are, divided into two categories:

  1. Preferred Time Frames – The best times to pray, carrying the greatest reward (ajr).
  2. Mandatory Time Frames – The latest times in which the prayer must be performed. If missed, the prayer must be made up.

1. Fajr

  • Preferred Time: From dawn until sunrise.
  • Mandatory Time: The same as the preferred time.

2. Dhuhr

  • Preferred Time: From when the sun is at its highest point (no shadows) until the shadow of an object equals its length.
  • Mandatory Time: From when the sun is at its highest point until sunset (shared with ʿAsr).

3. ʿAsr

  • Preferred Time: From when the shadow of an object equals its length until it becomes twice its length.
  • Mandatory Time: From midday (no shadow) until sunset (shared with Dhuhr).

📌 Note: Dhuhr and ʿAsr may be prayed individually or together within the mandatory timeframe, as long as Dhuhr is prayed before ʿAsr.

4. Maghrib

  • Preferred Time: From when the first star/planet appears after sunset until the red twilight disappears.
  • Mandatory Time: From when the first star appears until one-third of the night (shared with ʿIsha).

5. ʿIsha

  • Preferred Time: From the disappearance of the red twilight until the first third of the night.
  • Mandatory Time: From when the first star appears until one-third of the night (shared with Maghrib).

📌 Note: Maghrib and ʿIsha may be prayed individually or together within this mandatory timeframe, as long as Maghrib is prayed before ʿIsha.
