Full Lineage

ʿAlī ibn Zayd ibn al-Ḥusayn ibn ʿĪsā ibn Zayd ibn ʿAlī ibn al-Ḥusayn ibn ʿAlī ibn Abī Ṭālib (peace be upon them).

His Rising

In Kufa, after the killing of Imam Yaḥyā ibn ʿUmar al-ʿAlawī (peace be upon him) in the year 248 AH.

Martyrdom

He was killed a martyr (peace be upon him).

His Identity

Imam ʿAlī ibn Zayd ibn al-Ḥusayn ibn ʿĪsā ibn Zayd ibn ʿAlī ibn al-Ḥusayn ibn ʿAlī ibn Abī Ṭālib (peace be upon them). His rising was in Kufa after the killing of Imam Yaḥyā ibn ʿUmar — and he was killed a martyr.

Imam ʿAlī ibn Zayd rose up in Kufa in direct response to the killing of Imam Yaḥyā ibn ʿUmar al-ʿAlawī (peace be upon him) — who had been martyred in Kufa in the year 248 AH during the days of al-Mustaʿīn the ʿAbbāsid. His rising was thus an answer to the shedding of that sacred blood, continuing the unbroken tradition of the Imams of the Prophet’s family in standing for the truth.
