Abū ʿAbdullāh Muḥammad ibn Ṣāliḥ ibn ʿAbdullāh ibn Mūsā ibn ʿAbdullāh ibn al-Ḥasan ibn al-Ḥasan al-Sibṭ (peace be upon them).

Emerged during the reign of the ʿAbbāsid caliph al-Mutawakkil.

Deceived until seized and imprisoned in Surr Man Raʾā — the historical name of Sāmarrāʾ.

His Identity

During the reign of the ʿAbbāsid caliph al-Mutawakkil, there emerged from among the descendants of Muḥammad ﷺ Imam Abū ʿAbdullāh Muḥammad ibn Ṣāliḥ ibn ʿAbdullāh ibn Mūsā ibn ʿAbdullāh ibn al-Ḥasan ibn al-Ḥasan al-Sibṭ (peace be upon them).

His Lineage Connection

He is the grandson of Imam ʿAbdullāh ibn Mūsā (peace be upon him) — the unrivalled man of his age, whose reply to al-Maʾmūn is among the most celebrated epistles of the People of the House.

His Capture & Imprisonment

They deceived him until they succeeded in capturing and imprisoning him in Surr Man Raʾā — the historical name of Sāmarrāʾ.
