Abū al-ʿAbbās al-Ḥasanī & the Chains of Transmission to Imam al-Hādī
Aḥmad ibn Ibrāhīm ibn al-Ḥasan — Peace Be Upon Him
Al-Sayyid al-Imam Abū al-ʿAbbās — Aḥmad ibn Ibrāhīm ibn al-Ḥasan ibn Ibrāhīm ibn Imam Muḥammad ibn Sulaymān ibn Dāwūd ibn al-Ḥasan ibn al-Ḥasan ibn ʿAlī ibn Abī Ṭālib. He is the scholar, the ḥāfiẓ, the conclusive proof (al-ḥujja), the shaykh of the Imams, the inheritor of wisdom, the divine sage (rabbānī) of the Family of the Messenger, and the imam of the rational and the transmitted sciences.

- Al-Maṣābīḥ — he reached as far as Imam Yaḥyā ibn Zayd ibn ʿAlī; death prevented him from completing it; his student ʿAlī ibn Bilāl completed it in accordance with his intended arrangement, up to Imam al-Nāṣir al-Uṭrūsh
He, Imam al-Muʾayyad Billāh, and Imam Abū Ṭālib all took their knowledge from Imam al-Hādī — the pillar of Islam and disseminator of the sciences of his noble forefathers in the Jīl, the Daylam, and all the regions of the non-Arabs — through three distinct chains:
Imam al-Muʾayyad Billāh frequently relates from Abū al-ʿAbbās — who is the shaykh of both al-Muʾayyad Billāh and his brother al-Nāṭiq bi-l-Ḥaqq.
It is sometimes stated loosely that he is the maternal uncle (khāl) of the two Imams. The Author (peace be upon him) notes that this requires clarification: it is perhaps through the mother or through suckling (milk-kinship), for their mother is of the children of al-Ḥusayn, while he is a Ḥasanī. He cannot be their maternal uncle by direct lineage, but the title may have been applied by way of relationship through the mother’s side or through the bond of nursing.
He died (peace be upon him) in the year 353 AH. May God’s mercy and peace be upon him.
