Isma’il ibn Musa al-Kazim
Governor of Fars under Abu al-Saraya’s command, father of the hafiz Musa ibn Isma’il, and one of the shaykhs of the Prophet’s family sought out by Imam al-Qasim ibn Ibrahim al-Rassi.
Among the notable figures of the Zaydiyya is Isma’il ibn Musa al-Kazim, who governed Fars on behalf of Abu al-Saraya, commander of the army of Imam Muhammad ibn Ibrahim Tabataba — and whose children were called “the faces of the family of al-Kazim and their nobles.”

The genealogist al-Marwazi said: “As for Isma’il ibn Musa al-Kazim — peace be upon him — he was the governor (amir) of Fars on behalf of Abu al-Saraya [the commander of the army of Imam Muhammad ibn Ibrahim Tabataba], and his children were called ‘the faces — i.e., the leading figures — of the family of al-Kazim and their nobles.'”

His descendants and students
His son is the shaykh of the Zaydiyya and forebear of the Prophet’s kin, the hafiz Musa ibn Isma’il ibn Musa ibn Ja’far — peace be upon them — from whom the book al-Ash’athiyyat (published under the title al-Ja’fariyyat) is narrated.
He is among the teachers (mashyakha) of the hafiz Muhammad ibn Mansur al-Muradi, who narrated from him.
Sought out by Imam al-Qasim ibn Ibrahim al-Rassi
He was among the shaykhs of the family of Muhammad whom Imam al-Qasim ibn Ibrahim al-Rassi — the star of the family of the Messenger, peace be upon them — sought out, as expressed in his statement: “I reached the teachers among the descendants of al-Hasan and al-Husayn, and there was no disagreement among them.”
Imam al-Qasim is also the one who said: “Say to the Rafida: Tell us about the Household of the Messenger of God — are they polytheists, disbelievers, or Muslims? If you claim they are Muslims, then say: the Household of the Messenger of God and their scholars have unanimously agreed that you are not upon the way of Islam” — that is, the correct Islamic path.
